For countless generations these nomadic creatures have managed to forage for a nutritious food supply from foods available in their habitat and have survived and evolved doing just that.
Therefore it makes no nutritional sense to feed these versatile consumers a bland seed or pellet diet for a prolonged period prior to breeding and then suddenly supply an amazing assortment of food types during the breeding season.
We believe that black cockatoos require a balanced, nutritious diet all year round to keep them fit and healthy enough to reproduce successfully.
The dietary and nutritional requirements for each species are discussed in more detail in the Species section.
